Base44 pricing
Base44 prices by message credits. Free gives 25 message credits a month, 100 integration credits and up to five apps. At the annual rates the pricing page leads with, Starter is $16 a month for 100 messages, Builder $40 for 250, Pro $80 for 500 and Elite $160 for 1,200, each with a much larger integration pool. The annual rate is a fifth off, so monthly billing costs about a quarter more: Starter is about $20 a month paid monthly.
Usage varies by the action and by the AI model you choose, so a message is not always one credit; the monthly allowance is the cap. A correction spends credits like a feature does, and 25 free credits run out in an afternoon.
Twenty-five messages is a demo, not a build. Most people who evaluate Base44 seriously are on Starter within the week.
Coddy Build's free tier is 5 credits a day, up to 30 a month, renewed daily. Builder plans start at $20 a month for 100 credits. A turn is billed on what it cost to run and shown right after, so a one-line fix is cheap. Publishing spends nothing.
Where Base44 is better
- Nothing to connect. Database, accounts, storage, email and AI calls are all inside the product. For an operations tool or a customer portal this is the shortest path we know of.
- A capped monthly allowance. Credits are a monthly pool with no pay-as-you-go tail, so the bill has a ceiling.
- GitHub two-way sync and model choice on paid plans. Coddy Build has neither today.
- Multi-user editing on paid plans, and a free domain for a year.
- Wix behind it. The company is not going away, and payments and domains are Wix's home turf.
Where Base44 falls short
- The smallest free tier here. You cannot really learn the tool without paying.
- Lock-in. The built-in backend is the selling point and the exit cost. The code syncs to GitHub; the database, auth and integrations stay in Base44.
- Credits go on fixes too. A wrong guess by the AI is corrected with the same credits a feature would use.
- It explains nothing. Base44 is built for people who want the tool, not the understanding.
