Points on the Axes

Part of the Graphs & Systems section of Coddy's Algebra journey. Lesson 3 of 64.

A point with a zero in it sits on an axis. (4, 0) is four steps right and no steps up: on the x-axis. (0, -3) is no steps sideways and three down: on the y-axis. Such points belong to no quadrant; they are on the border.

These border points matter later: where a line crosses the x-axis its y is 0, and where it crosses the y-axis its x is 0. Every crossing point of a graph is a point with a zero in it.

Place (-5, 0) and (0, 2): one on each axis.
