The Two Intercepts

The same trick both ways gives both crossings of 3x + 2y = 6: setting y = 0 leaves 3x = 6, the x-intercept (2, 0); setting x = 0 leaves 2y = 6, the y-intercept (0, 3).

Set the other one to zero: that is the entire method. Each intercept is a point with a zero in it, which is exactly what chapter 1 said about points on the axes.

The line 2x + 5y = 10 is drawn. Work out both intercepts and place them.
