What are Functions?

Part of the Fundamentals section of Coddy's Dart journey — lesson 64 of 94.

Functions are reusable blocks of code that perform specific tasks. They help organize your code and avoid repetition.

Create a simple function that prints a greeting:

void sayHello() {
  print('Hello, Dart!');
}

void main() {
  sayHello();
}

After executing the above code, the output will be:

Hello, Dart!

Functions can be called multiple times from different places in your code:

void main() {
  sayHello();
  print('Other code...');
  sayHello();
}

void sayHello() {
  print('Hello, Dart!');
}

After executing the above code, the output will be:

Hello, Dart!
Other code...
Hello, Dart!
