Play chess against Pip

Pip plays at 400 Elo. Just learned the rules. Hangs pieces, misses mate - beat your first opponent here. The game starts the moment the page loads; hints, takebacks and the clickable move list are right beside the board.

How Pip plays

Pip just learned how the pieces move and plays the first idea that looks fun - one move ahead, never two. Pieces get left where they can be taken, forks go unseen, and a mate threat has to be loud before Pip notices it.

How to beat Pip

Keep your pieces defended, take everything Pip leaves hanging, and ask one question every turn: what does this move attack? Win material first; the king will fall on its own.
