Queen and Bishop
Part of the Basic Mates section of Coddy's Endgames journey. Lesson 17 of 26.
The bishop guards from a distance. Its diagonal can protect the square beside the enemy king from the far corner of the board, or seal the one diagonal he would slip out along. With a bishop as bodyguard the queen needs neither her king nor a close helper - just a square where the two lines cross.
