Who Guards the Door?

Part of the Checkmate Patterns I section of Coddy's Tactics & Checkmates journey. Lesson 2 of 40.

Before any back-rank check, ask who answers the door. A guard can stand anywhere on a line into the entry square, so count: attackers against defenders. One against one, the check just loses a rook. Two against one, the door falls.
