Rounding Decimals

3.6449 is nearer to 3.6 than to 3.7. So, rounded to one decimal place, it is 3.6.

To round, look only at the next digit after the places you keep. To keep one decimal place, look at the second digit after the point. Here it is 4, so you round down. 5 or more rounds up.

Do not round in steps. 3.645, then 3.65, then 3.7 gives the wrong answer.

A bag of flour weighs 2.3481 kilograms. Its label shows the weight with one decimal place. What does the label say? Write r equal to the rounded weight.
