The Tactic That Isn't

Half the tactics you see are mirages. Before you play a fork, ask who guards the fork square; before a skewer, whether a defended piece can block; before a discovered attack, whether your rear piece is hanging on the open line. And when they play the mirage, the answer is usually to take the piece that just moved.
