Area of a Rectangle
Part of the Polygons & Quadrilaterals section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 37 of 61.
The area of a shape is how many unit squares cover it. A rectangle 7 long and 3 wide holds 3 rows of 7 unit squares, so its area is 7 × 3 = 21 square units.
That is the rule Area of a rectangle: area = length × width, using two sides that meet at a corner. On the board, tap inside the rectangle (choose Area if the board asks) and pick the rule.
Challenge
ABCD is a rectangle with AB = 11 and BC = 4. Find its area: tap inside it, pick the rule, then press Check.
