Make a Parallelogram
Part of the Polygons & Quadrilaterals section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 32 of 61.
On squared paper every segment between grid points has a step: how far it goes across and how far up. From A to B below is 3 across and 1 up. Two segments are parallel when their steps point the same way, and the opposite sides of a parallelogram have exactly the same step.
Here AB goes 3 across and 1 up, and so does DC, from D to C. AD goes 2 across and 3 up, and so does BC. So ABCD is a parallelogram. To finish one from three corners A, B and C, start at A and copy the step from B to C.
Challenge
Three corners A, B and C of a quadrilateral are fixed. Drag D to the grid point that makes ABCD a parallelogram, then press Check.
