What Is Godot?
Part of the Nodes and Scenes section of Coddy's Godot journey. Lesson 1 of 27.
Godot is a free program for making games. A Godot game is made of nodes. The robot on the right is a node, and so are its body, its eyes and its antenna.
A node can have a script that tells it what to do. Scripts are written in GDScript, Godot's language. This is the robot's script, robot.gd:
extends Node2D
func _ready():
print("Hello")extends Node2D says the script belongs to a 2D node. The code inside _ready() runs when the game starts. print() writes a line in the Console, under the game.
Press Play to run the game.
Challenge
EasyMake the robot print Hello, Godot! when the game starts. Capitals and the comma count.
