Product Engineer

Apply for this roleAbout the role
Coddy is a product used by over 4 million people learning to code, built by a small engineering team where everyone owns real surface area. We're not hiring for a slot on a feature assembly line. We're looking for the kind of engineer who could have started their own company, and maybe has.
What that means in practice: you've built and shipped production products end to end, not just contributed code to them. You've made the product calls, not just implemented them. Best case, you've built something that real people used and paid for, because that experience changes how an engineer thinks about everything from architecture to what's actually worth building.
At Coddy you'll own product areas the same way: from the idea, through the full stack, to watching the numbers move after you ship. Decisions happen in a conversation, shipping happens in days, and your work reaches millions of learners almost immediately. If you've been at a big company wishing you had that kind of ownership, or you've been building your own things and want the reach without giving up the autonomy, this is that role.
What you'll do
Your day-to-day
- →Own product areas end to end: idea, design decisions, full-stack code, launch, metrics
- →Ship to millions of learners in days, not quarters
- →Make product calls, not just technical ones
- →Work across the whole stack, front to back, and pick the right tool for the job
- →Move fast with AI tooling built into your workflow
- →Shape what Coddy becomes, not just how it's built
What we're looking for
You should have
- ✓You've built and shipped production products end to end, not just features inside them
- ✓Strong across the stack, comfortable owning everything from UI to infrastructure
- ✓You think in outcomes: what to build and why, not just how
- ✓A founder mentality: you don't wait for specs, you find what matters and go
- ✓You write code that survives real users and real scale
- ✓Comfortable working async in a remote team
Nice to have
Bonus points for
- +You've built a product that generated real revenue, yours or an employer's, and can tell the story
- +You've founded something before, or ran a serious side project like it was a company
- +Experience in education, learning products, or consumer apps
- +Experience building with or on top of AI
What we offer
- ★Real ownership: whole product areas are yours, from idea to metrics
- ★4M+ learners see your work within days of shipping
- ★A small senior team, no layers, decisions happen in a conversation
- ★Fully remote, async-first, flexible hours
- ★The best tools for the job, including the latest AI assistants in your workflow
- ★Learning budget, we practice what we teach
