What makes a font aesthetic?
Aesthetic text is a look rather than one style: the soft-girl, cottagecore, vaporwave and dark-academia bios all share a preference for airy letters and small ornaments over bold shapes. Every piece of it is Unicode - the fullwidth alphabet (Ｓｏｆｔ) from Japanese typesetting, the kaomoji brackets ꒰ა ໒꒱, the sparkles ✧ and the moon ☾ from the symbol blocks, the cursive and small caps alphabets from the maths and phonetics blocks.

What to know about aesthetic Unicode text
- Fullwidth letters are double-width by definition - they were designed to sit on the same grid as Chinese and Japanese characters - so a fullwidth bio takes twice the room.
- The frames add characters: the soft frame is eleven, the sparkle trail is ten. On a 150-character bio, the ornaments can cost more than the words.
- Wide-spaced text is just spaces between letters; some apps collapse repeated spaces, and search treats each letter as its own word.
- Aesthetic ornaments render in the font's symbol style, not as colour emoji, which is what keeps them soft - but a few (☾ ✧) vary in shape between iOS and Android.

Fullwidth and wide-spaced both add air; fullwidth is real double-width characters, wide is spaces. Small caps is the quiet alternative.
Common aesthetic-text mistakes
- Layering every ornament on one line. Aesthetic text works because of the empty space around it; three frames fill that space.
- Running out of bio room on the ornaments - count them before the words.
- Wide-spacing a hashtag; each letter becomes its own word and the tag stops working.

How do I make an aesthetic bio?
Type a short line here, copy one of the framed cards (soft frame, sparkles, moon) or the fullwidth card, and paste it into the bio. Keep to one ornament per line and leave the other lines plain - the contrast is the aesthetic.
What are the ˚₊‧꒰ა ໒꒱‧₊˚ symbols?
They are Unicode characters borrowed from Japanese kaomoji: ꒰ა and ໒꒱ are Lao and Sinhala letters used as soft brackets, and ˚₊‧ are a ring, a subscript plus and a hyphenation point. Together they are the standard soft frame in aesthetic bios.
Why does fullwidth text take up so much space?
Fullwidth letters were designed to occupy the same square cell as a Chinese or Japanese character, so each one is twice as wide as a normal letter. That width is the point of the vaporwave look.
Will aesthetic symbols look the same on iPhone and Android?
The letters will; a few ornaments (the moon ☾, the sparkle ✧) are drawn slightly differently by each system font. The frame still reads the same, only the exact shape of the symbol shifts.
