Final: Area, Modeled
Part of the Exponents & Polynomials section of Coddy's Algebra journey. Lesson 62 of 64.
A garden bed is x meters on each side to begin with. The design stretches the square into a rectangle, adding 5 meters to one side and 2 meters to the other, so the sides are x + 5 and x + 2. The area of a rectangle is length times width, written before computing anything: a = (x+5)(x+2).
Challenge
MediumA second bed is also x meters on each side to begin with, stretched by 6 meters on one side and 2 meters on the other. Write an equation for the area a of this bed, keeping the product structure. Type it onto the canvas.
