Making a Solution

Part of the Food Chemistry and the Lab section of Coddy's Chemistry journey. Lesson 19 of 27.

A volumetric flask is marked for one exact volume.

Mass needed: n=c×Vn = c \times V, then m=n×Mm = n \times M.

Dissolve in a little water, pour into the flask with the rinsings, fill to the mark, mix.

Diluting keeps the moles: c₁V₁ = c₂V₂.
