Rates in the Lab

Part of the Food Chemistry and the Lab section of Coddy's Chemistry journey. Lesson 24 of 27.

Rate = change / time: gas volume, mass lost, or time to turn cloudy.

Marble in acid gives off CO₂ fastest at the start, then slows as the acid is used up.

Higher temperature, smaller pieces, more concentrated acid and a catalyst speed it up. A catalyst lowers the activation energy.
