A Lens and a Mirror
Part of the Optics, Waves and Modern Physics section of Coddy's Physics journey. Lesson 16 of 53.
A mirror behind a lens: three steps. Lens, then mirror, then the lens again the other way.
The mirror's image is u₂ = 2d − v₁ from the lens.
f = 10, object 30, mirror 25: v₁ = 15, u₂ = 35, final image 14 cm in front of the lens.
Challenge
A converging lens has f = 10 cm, and an object is 30 cm in front of it. A flat mirror is 25 cm behind the lens. Where does the light form its final image: how far v_2 in front of the lens?
