Seeing in a Mirror
Part of the Optics, Waves and Modern Physics section of Coddy's Physics journey. Lesson 9 of 53.
A ray from the object into your eye seems to come from the image: it meets the mirror where the line from the image to your eye crosses it.
Each ray meets the mirror halfway up (or down) to your eye.
A mirror half your height shows all of you, at any distance.
Challenge
A girl's eyes are e = 1.6 m above the floor. How high b above the floor must the bottom edge of a wall mirror be, at most, for her to see her feet?
Try it yourself
This lesson includes a short quiz. Start the lesson to answer it and track your progress.
