Recap - Hydrogen from Water
Part of the Stoichiometry section of Coddy's Chemistry journey. Lesson 41 of 41.
Challenge
Hydrogen is the lightest gas and it is cheap, so some weather stations make it on the spot by splitting water with electricity:
2H₂O(l) → 2H₂(g) + O₂(g)
A station fills a 2,500 L balloon with hydrogen at room conditions. Calculate the mass of water, m_W, it must split (H₂O, 18 g/mol). Assume that 1 mol of gas takes 25 L.
