King in Front
Part of the The King and the Pawn section of Coddy's Endgames journey. Lesson 20 of 26.
Two rules cover almost every pawn ending you will play. The king two squares in front of its pawn wins, whoever is to move. The king one square in front wins only with the opposition - except on the sixth rank, where it wins no matter what. Two in front, or the sixth: no counting needed.
