The King Eats
Part of the The King and the Pawn section of Coddy's Endgames journey. Lesson 6 of 26.
An active king is a pawn-eater. A pawn cannot run backwards and cannot defend itself: a king standing next to it simply takes it - unless another man guards it, and a king never steps into an attack. So walk up, count the guards, and eat what is loose. A blocked pawn is lunch.
