Locked In

Part of the The King and the Pawn section of Coddy's Endgames journey. Lesson 24 of 26.

The rook pawn has a second trap: its own king. A king standing in front of a rook pawn in the corner is locked in - the defender keeps the door beside the corner, and the attacker's last move is stalemate. So with the pawn, keep your king beside it, never in front; against it, take the door.
