A Bot Appears

Lesson 16 of 25 in Coddy's Roblox Game: Battlegrounds course.

Now an opponent. A bot is a model in ServerStorage.Bot with a Humanoid, cloned onto the red pad, with its numbers from Settings and a health bar like the dummy's.

Roblox lets a nearby player's client run an unanchored model's physics, and a server call such as ApplyImpulse on it then does nothing. Your slam knocks bots back from the server, so keep each bot's physics there, once the bot is in the workspace:

crate.Parent = workspace
crate:SetNetworkOwner(nil)

Challenge

Hard

Put a bot in the arena.

  1. Add local bots = workspace.Bots. Write spawnBot(): clone ServerStorage.Bot 3 studs above workspace.BotSpawn; MaxHealth and Health Settings.BotHealth, WalkSpeed Settings.BotSpeed.
  2. Parent it to bots, then bot.HumanoidRootPart:SetNetworkOwner(nil).
  3. Size bot.HealthBar.Back.Fill on HealthChanged, like the dummy's. Call spawnBot().

Press Play: a red bot stands on the red pad. Then Check.

Try it yourself
