Game Over

Lesson 18 of 18 in Coddy's Roblox Game: Tower Defense course.

Your game is nearly complete. The settings end with the Boss: 200 health, slow, and it takes 20 from the base, so a defense that cannot stop it loses on the last wave.

Losing is the last rule. When the base reaches 0 the game is over: the server sets Status to "Lost", clears every enemy off the path, and starts no more waves. A variable gameOver carries that to every loop that needs it:

if gameOver then
	break
end

The win at the end only counts when the base held: if not gameOver then.

Then press Play, build a defense and beat all five waves. Change Settings to balance it your way.

Challenge

Hard
  1. Add local gameOver = false. In damageBase, when the health reaches 0 for the first time, set it, set Status to "Lost" and clear every enemy.
  2. In runWave, stop spawning once the game is over; at the top of the wave loop, stop when it is over.
  3. Set Status to "Won" only when the game is not over.
  4. In DefenseClient's showEnd, show The base has fallen for "Lost".

Press Play, then Check: the checks let three Zombies through on a base with 3 health.
