Enemies From the Map
Part of the Worlds section of Coddy's Pygame journey. Lesson 27 of 35.
The blobs are placed with numbers in the code, while everything else in the level comes from the map. Put them in the map too: an E is an enemy standing on that tile.
elif char == "E":
blobs.add(Blob((col * TILE + TILE // 2, row * TILE + TILE)))(col * TILE + TILE // 2, row * TILE + TILE) is the bottom middle of the tile, the same point the player starts from. The blob's Rect puts its bottom middle there, so it stands on the ground under the E. Make the group before the loops, so the loops can add to it.
Now designing a level is typing: move an E and the blob moves; add one and there is another blob. Put each E on a tile with ground under it, or the blob turns at once and stands still.
Challenge
Easy- Make
blobs = pygame.sprite.Group()before the map loops. - In the loops, for each
E, addBlob((col * TILE + TILE // 2, row * TILE + TILE))toblobs. - Remove the line that made the two blobs at fixed points.
