The eyes are the tears. T and Т read as tears running from a closed eye, ╥ is a box-drawing character that streams thicker, and the Kannada letter ಥ is a round eye with a tear line under it - (ಥ﹏ಥ) is bawling. Small ゚ or 。 marks outside the face are tears flying off, as in 。゚(゚´Д`゚)゚。.
The mouth sets the volume. ﹏ is a trembling lip, Д is a wide-open wail, and ‿ under teary eyes gives (ಥ‿ಥ) - crying because you are happy, the face for a wedding or a reunion. Arms reach out for comfort: (っ˘̩╭╮˘̩)っ is crying and asking for a hug.
