Rebirth

Lesson 15 of 18 in Coddy's Roblox Game: Factory Tycoon course.

A rebirth trades a finished factory for a fresh start and a permanent reward. Players chase it again and again: it is what keeps a tycoon going after the last pad.

Starting over means putting everything back: every built item into ServerStorage, and every bought pad where it began (for sale, or waiting if it has an After). That is why bought pads were moved, not destroyed: they now go to a folder, BoughtPads, so the reset can find them.

for _, item in tycoon.Built:GetChildren() do
	item.Parent = items
end

The reset will be needed again (when an owner leaves), so it is its own function, resetFactory(). The rebirth pad calls it, adds 1 to a new Rebirths stat and sets Cash back to 0. Droppers moved back to storage stop by themselves: their loop runs only while they are in the workspace.

Challenge

Hard

Add rebirths:

  1. When a player joins, add an IntValue Rebirths to their leaderstats.
  2. Make a BoughtPads Folder in ServerStorage (kept as bought), and move bought pads there instead of into ServerStorage itself.
  3. Write resetFactory(): the rebirth pad back to ServerStorage, every built item back to items, every bought pad back to tycoon.Buttons (or waiting if it has an After).
  4. When the owner steps on the rebirth pad while it is in the factory: reset, +1 Rebirths, Cash to 0, and the headline back to their name.

Press Play, finish and rebirth, then Check.
