The Upgrader

Lesson 10 of 18 in Coddy's Roblox Game: Factory Tycoon course.

The purple gate over the belt is the upgrader. It does not stop the ore (it is not CanCollide), but every ore that passes through it is worth double.

Touched can fire more than once for the same ore, for example if it stops and starts again, and doubling twice would be a bug players love and owners hate. So the upgrader marks each ore it has doubled with an attribute and skips marked ones:

if hit.Name == "Ore" and not hit:GetAttribute("Upgraded") then
	hit:SetAttribute("Upgraded", true)
	hit:SetAttribute("Value", hit:GetAttribute("Value") * 2)
end

The upgrader waits in ServerStorage until it is bought, but its Touched can be connected at the start: the connection stays with the part wherever it is, and Touched only fires once it is in the world.

Challenge

Medium

Connect items.Upgrader.Touched: when the part is named Ore and has no Upgraded attribute, set Upgraded to true, double its Value, and colour it purple (Color3.fromRGB(155, 89, 182)).

Press Play, buy the upgrader and watch your income double, then Check.
