COUNTIFS

Part of the Formulas and Data Analysis section of Coddy's Excel journey. Lesson 13 of 28.

COUNTIFS accepts range-and-criterion pairs. It counts a row only when every paired condition holds for that row. Use equally sized ranges with aligned starting and ending rows.

A2 contains East, A3 contains East, A4 contains West, B2 contains Paid, B3 contains Open, B4 contains Paid.

Example: =COUNTIFS(A2:A4,"East",B2:B4,"Paid").

Only the first row is both East and Paid.

COUNTIFS combines its conditions with AND across aligned rows.

The practice sheet highlights cells where you should enter formulas. The same formulas must work when the tests replace the input data.

Regions are in A2:A5 and statuses in B2:B5. Count rows in selected region E2 with status Paid, placing the result in F2.

Enter formulas in the highlighted output cells: F2. Keep the supplied data and headings. Tests change input values, so use cell references instead of typing the sample answers. Use English function names and commas between arguments.
