Families, Rounded
Part of the Trig Equations and Inverses section of Coddy's Trigonometry journey. Lesson 34 of 56.
Off the special values the base is rounded and the period stays exact. sin(x) = 0.3 gives arcsin(0.3) = 17.4576°, so with each base to one decimal place the families are
x = 17.5° + 360°·k
x = 162.5° + 360°·k
The second base is 180° − arcsin(0.3), worked out exactly and then rounded. The 360° is never rounded: it is a whole turn.
Challenge
Find every solution of 5cos(x) = 3, with k any integer and each base to one decimal place, and press Check.
