Pieces That Cannot Move

Part of the Tactics section of Coddy's Chess journey. Lesson 14 of 48.

Some pieces are on the board but not in the game. A slider lines up on a piece with the king directly behind: an absolute pin. Moving would expose the king, so moving is illegal - and a piece that cannot move cannot recapture. Whatever it guards is not guarded.
