Corresponding Angles
Part of the Angles section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 32 of 62.
Take the angle in the same position at each crossing: both above the parallel, both right of the transversal. These are corresponding angles, the F shape, and with parallel lines they are equal: the second crossing is a copy of the first, slid down the transversal.
In the figure, y° sits exactly where 125° sits, one crossing lower, so y = 125. Same position, same measure: that is the whole rule.
