Perpendicular Lines
Part of the Angles section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 14 of 62.
When two lines cross so that a right angle appears, the lines are perpendicular. One right angle at the crossing is enough: the other three angles are then forced to be right angles too, since each pairs with it along a straight line.
The symbol is a little upside-down T: AB ⊥ CD reads “AB is perpendicular to CD”. In figures the square in one corner makes the same promise without words.
