Equilateral Angles

Part of the Angles section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 50 of 62.

An equilateral triangle has three equal sides, marked with matching ticks. It is isosceles three times over: every pair of sides is equal, so every pair of angles is equal, and three corners of x° obey 3x = 180. Every corner of every equilateral triangle measures exactly 60°.

An equilateral triangle with three 60 degree angles and tick-marked sides

There is nothing to solve because there is nothing free: no choice of side length changes the angles. Big or small, an equilateral triangle is always the same shape, and 60 is its number.
