Two Unknown Angles
Part of the Angles section of Coddy's Geometry journey. Lesson 44 of 62.
Two corners can share one unknown: a corner of x° and a corner of 2x°, twice as wide. The budget still binds them, and collecting like terms does the rest.
In the figure, y + 2y + 30 = 180. The y terms collect: 3y + 30 = 180, so 3y = 150 and y = 50. The corners come out 50°, 100° and 30°, and the budget balances. One unknown, two corners, no extra difficulty.
