The Junction Rule
Part of the Electricity and Magnetism section of Coddy's Physics journey. Lesson 30 of 51.
At a junction, what flows in equals what flows out:
ΣI_in = ΣI_out
An unknown current: pick a direction, any one. A negative answer means it flows the other way.
Challenge
Three wires meet at the junction J. A current of 5 A flows into J along the first, and 2 A flows out along the second. What current I_3 flows in the third wire? Give it a direction on the circuit first.
