Two Parallel Wires
Part of the Electricity and Magnetism section of Coddy's Physics journey. Lesson 45 of 51.
Parallel currents the same way attract; opposite ways, they repel:
F = μ₀ I₁ I₂ L / (2π d)
Both wires feel the same size of force.
Challenge
Two long parallel wires 10 cm apart each carry 10 A. How big is the force F on a 2 m length of one of them?
Try it yourself
This lesson includes a short quiz. Start the lesson to answer it and track your progress.
