1...d5 Against 1.d4

Against 1.d4 your answer is 1...d5, and the shape behind it is the Slav: ...c6 to support the centre, ...Nf6, the bishop out to f5 before ...e6 shuts it in, then ...e6, ...Nbd7, ...Be7 and castle. No pawn is ever hanging, no bishop is ever buried.
