The Early Queen

Part of the Playing Real Games section of Coddy's Chess journey. Lesson 9 of 40.

An early queen is not a threat, it is a target. Every cheap piece that attacks her develops with tempo; every retreat costs a move. The rule: never bring the queen out before the minor pieces - and when they do, develop at her with threats until she goes home, then look for the tactic she left behind.
