Score With Zeros

Part of the Game Rules section of Coddy's Pygame journey. Lesson 9 of 29.

Arcade games show the score with zeros in front: 00042. It always has five digits, so it takes about the same room from the first point to the ten thousandth, and it reads like a counter.

An f-string can pad a number. After the value, a colon starts the format: 0 means pad with zeros and 5 is the width:

f"{42:05}" # "00042"
f"{7:03}" # "007"
f"{123456:05}" # "123456", never cut

Without the 0, f"{42:5}" pads with spaces: " 42". A number longer than the width is never cut, it only grows wider.

With five digits, the plate behind the score stays about the same size all game.

Challenge

Easy
  1. Draw the score as five digits padded with zeros, with nothing else in the text: 00000 at the start, 00003 after three rocks.
