Habit Tracker: Delete a Habit
Part of the Projects section of Coddy's Flutter journey. Lesson 34 of 36.
Habits end too. Press and hold a card to delete it. A whole week of ticks is a lot to lose by accident, so the app asks first.
An InkWell inside the card catches the press with onLongPress and draws the ripple. The day circles keep their own taps: a quick tap still reaches the GestureDetector, and only a long press goes to the card.
The question is a dialog that pops true or false, as in the last lesson. Its title names the habit, so you know what you are deleting:
final delete = await showDialog<bool>(
context: context,
builder: (context) => AlertDialog(
title: Text('Delete ${habit.name}?'),
...
),
);
if (delete != true) return;The card hands the long press up with a third callback, onLongPress, the same way it hands up taps on days.
Challenge
MediumDelete habits:
- write
Future<void> _deleteHabit(Habit habit) async: anAlertDialogtitledDelete Stretch?(with the habit's name), the lineIts ticks for this week go with it., aCancelTextButtonand aDeleteFilledButton; on Delete, remove the habit - give
HabitCardarequiredVoidCallback onLongPress, and pass() => _deleteHabit(habit) - in the card, put an
InkWellwith thatonLongPressaround thePadding, and give theCardclipBehavior: Clip.antiAlias
Try it yourself
