Habit Tracker: Tick a Day
Part of the Projects section of Coddy's Flutter journey. Lesson 30 of 36.
Tap a circle to tick the day, tap it again to clear it. The habits live in the screen's state, but the circle is drawn deep inside a HabitCard. The tap has to travel up to where the data is.
That is lifting state up with callbacks. The screen owns the change:
void _toggle(Habit habit, int day) {
setState(() {
habit.days[day] = !habit.days[day];
});
}It hands each card a function, onToggle: (day) => _toggle(habit, day). The card's type for it is void Function(int day), a function that takes the day's number. Each circle gets a plain VoidCallback, onTap: () => onToggle(i), and wraps its Container in a GestureDetector that calls it.
!habit.days[day] flips a bool: true becomes false and back, so one function both ticks and clears.
Challenge
HardTick days:
- add the
_togglemethod to the screen's state - give
HabitCardarequiredonToggleof typevoid Function(int day), and pass(day) => _toggle(habit, day) - give
DayCirclearequiredVoidCallback onTap, wrap itsContainerin aGestureDetector, and pass() => onToggle(i)
