Store: The Total
Part of the Projects section of Coddy's Flutter journey. Lesson 24 of 36.
Before you pay you want one number: the total. It belongs in the model, worked out from the items, like the count:
double get total => _items.fold(0, (sum, product) => sum + product.price);fold walks the list with a running value. It starts at 0, and for each product it hands you the value so far, sum, and the product; what you return becomes the next sum. After the last product, that is the total.
Show it at the bottom of the cart screen, where checkout buttons live in shopping apps. A Scaffold's bottomNavigationBar is any widget pinned to the bottom; wrap it in a SafeArea so it stays clear of the phone's home bar. Inside, a Row with a Spacer pushes the amount to the right end.
The total goes through the same money formatter as every other price, so it looks like them.
Challenge
MediumShow the total:
- add the
totalgetter toCartModel - give the cart's
ScaffoldabottomNavigationBar: aSafeAreaholding 16 pixels of padding around aRowofTotal, aSpacerand the formatted total - both texts in the theme's
