Store: Prices
Part of the Projects section of Coddy's Flutter journey. Lesson 20 of 36.
A price of 45.5 should read $45.50, and 1299 should read $1,299.00. Writing that by hand is fiddly; intl's NumberFormat does it, the same way for every price.
Make one formatter for the whole app, at the top of the file, and use it everywhere a price is shown:
import 'package:intl/intl.dart';
final money = NumberFormat.currency(locale: 'en_US', symbol: '\$');
money.format(1299); // $1,299.00locale: 'en_US' picks how numbers are written: a comma between thousands and a point before the cents. In de_DE the same price is 1.299,00. symbol is what goes in front; in Dart a $ in a string starts interpolation, so write it '\$'.
Under each name, show the formatted price, bold and in the theme's primary color, so prices stand out from names.
Challenge
EasyShow prices:
- import
package:intl/intl.dartand add themoneyformatter from the theory aboveMyApp - under the name on each card, 4 pixels down, show
money.format(product.price), bold, inTheme.of(context).colorScheme.primary
Try it yourself
import 'package:flutter/material.dart';
void main() {
runApp(const MyApp());
}
class MyApp extends StatelessWidget {
const MyApp({super.key});
@override
Widget build(BuildContext context) {
return MaterialApp(

),
home: const ShopScreen(),

}
}

required this.color,
required this.description,
