Energy: how it works
On the free plan, each passed challenge or finished quiz uses 1 energy, and energy refills 1 every 4 hours. Failed runs, reading and practice are free. Plus and Pro have unlimited energy.

Energy is how Coddy keeps every course free for everyone. It limits how much you finish in a day, not what you can learn.
What uses energy
- A passed coding challenge: 1 energy
- A finished lesson quiz: 1 energy (your first two quizzes ever are free)
- A solved interview problem: 1 energy
What never uses energy
- Reading theory
- A failed run
- Practice and the daily challenge
- Projects
- Bot games, puzzles and math practice
- The test to skip ahead to a later chapter
How it refills
Energy refills 1 every 4 hours, up to your maximum. The energy counter shows when the next one arrives.
When you run out, Run Code opens "You're out of energy!". You can wait for the next refill, or:
- refill to full in the Store with Refill Energy for 25 tokens
- in the app, watch a short ad for 1 energy, up to 10 times a day
- upgrade to Plus or Pro for unlimited energy
Unlimited energy
Plus and Pro have no energy limit, so you never wait. See Plans compared.
